West Indies Is In Group 2
West Indies in the coming T20 World Cup is kept in Group 2 where they will face Australia, England, South Africa, and the two qualifying teams. This is a tough group to qualify for the semi-final. West Indies in the T20 World Cup 2012 was in Group B. Surprisingly, and West Indies did not win any match in the group stages. They lost to Australia and then-No Result with Ireland. But due to better run-rate, team West Indies qualified for the 2nd round. At this stage, no one could even think that West Indies could qualify for the next round, Semi-Finals.
2nd Round Of The World For WI
In the 2nd round of the T20 World Cup, West Indies had to face Sri Lanka, New Zealand, and England to qualify for the Semis. In the first encounter, West Indies beat England by 15 runs. They batted first and posted a total of 179/5 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, England reached 164/4 in their 20 Overs.
The hosts won the second encounter by 9 wickets. Sri Lanka chased down the target in 15.1 overs just for losing one wicket, leaving 29 balls.

The third match of the Group 1 was played between West Indies and New Zealand. West Indies batted first scored 139 runs losing all wickets. In reply, New Zealand managed to level the score. The match was decided in the super over. And eventually, West Indies won the match but still did not qualify for the Semi-Final.
Their qualification was dependent upon Sri Lanka’s win. And, Sri Lanka helps West Indies reach the Semi-Final of the T20 World Cup 2012 by beating England.

In the first Semi-Final, Australia took on West Indies. West Indies, after batting, posted a massive total on the scoreboard of 205 runs. In a Semi-Final, such scores can’t be an easy task. And, in the end, it proved a one-sided match. Australia only managed to score 131 in 16.4 overs.

West Indies reached the final of the T20 World Cup. This time they had to face the hosts Sri Lanka. West Indies won the toss and tried their batting lineup in the big match.
The initial part of the match belonged to Sri Lanka. Mendis took 4 wickets for 12 runs putting West Indies on the backfoot. But in the latter part of the innings, Marlon Samuels played an innings of his. He scored 78 runs consuming only 56 balls. A decent total of 136 in the final was posted to the visitors. In reply, Sri Lanka only reached 101 runs losing all wickets in 18.4 overs. Sunil Narine took 3/9 in his 3.4 overs. Marlon Samuels was the Player of the Match.

In the 3rd encounter, South Africa scored 122/8, which West Indies chased down with ease, and this was the 3rd consecutive win for the team in the Super 10 round of the T20 World Cup. Surprisingly the only match they lost was against Afghanistan.

In the Semi-Final, they faced the hosts India. After putting a gigantic total on the board, India looked very flat in the 2nd part of the match. The massive total of 192 was chased down with two balls to spare.

England vs West Indies, team England batted first and scored 155/9 in their allotted 20 overs. In reply, West Indies chased down the target in 19.4 overs.
