Team Australia is one of the strongest teams of the shorter format. But, initially, Australia did not give that much preference to this format, and that is why Australia, despite being the number one team of the ICC ODI ranking, could not perform well in the T20s. This is the reason why in the first two editions, Australia seemed very flat. The big question is that they will make it this time. Will the ICC T20 World Cup 2021 will make them champion?
But the third edition was a good one for Australia. Australian team beat Pakistan twice, in the group stage and the Semi-Final. Australia, though reached the final, but could not overcome the in-form England. And, the dream remained a dream till now. Australia batted first and just posted a decent total of 147/6 wickets. England chased it down with ease in just 17 overs and became the ICC T20 World Cup champions for the first time.
Australia is still struggling to achieve the title of the ICC T20 World Cup champions. And the coming ICC T20 World will be a golden chance for them to get that title.
The team’s preparations are at their peak. But the recent tour did not prove a good one for Australia. West Indies won the series 3-1. This is a bit alarming for the Australian team.
