ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Group A match 4, Sri Lanka vs Namibia. Round 1, the qualifying stage of the two world cup 2021. The 4th match was played between Sri Lanka and Namibia, and Sri Lanka won the toss and offered Namibia to Bat first.
Namibia started off the innings with some hesitation while losing the opener in the 3rd over. Nambia lost their 2nd wicket at the score of 29 runs the last powerplay over. After that, there was a partnership, but the Namibian players could not recover from that stage once the Sri Lankan team broke that. And only managed to score 96 runs all out.
The pick of the bowler from the Sri Lankan side was M Theekshana, who took three wickets for 25 runs in his four overs. His bowling set up the tone for the Sri Lankan team and built on that.
Chasing such a small total wouldn’t be a problem! That’s what people think, but the Asia team Sri Lanka tried to make the match interesting.
Sri Lanka lost three wickets in the powerplay. And it seems that it would be an interesting match. But Rajapaksa and Fernando sustained the drowning batting lineup and chased down the target in 13.3 overs.
Rajapaksa scored 42 runs facing 27 balls with a strike rate of 155.55. Fernando made 30 for 28 balls and played an anchor role in the partnership, winning their first game of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021.
The bottom line: Sri Lanka beat Namibia by 7 wickets and got two important points.
