Here we have a debutant of the T20 World Cup PNG, qualified for the first time. A big moment for the team playing on a stage where every team dreams to play. Assad Vala will be leading the side. It is their first arrival in the International arena, so everyone knows little about the PNG squad, strengths, and weaknesses. Let’s look at the Papua New Guinea squad first that is announced for the coming WCT20.
Assad and his men have won five out of six group matches in the T20 World Qualifier stage in 2019. They qualified for the final but unfortunately couldn’t make it count. This was an excellent achievement for a team like PNG
| TEAM 1 | VS | TEAM 2 | DATE |
|---|---|---|---|
| PNG | VS | OMAN | 17-Oct-21 |
| PNG | VS | SCOTLAND | 19-Oct-21 |
| PNG | VS | BANGLADESH | 21-OCt-21 |
Squad: Assad Vala (c), Charles Amini, Lega Siaka, Norman Vanua, Nosaina Pokana, Kipling Dorigo, Tony Ura, Hiri Hiri, Gaudi Toka, Sese Bau, Damien Ravu, Kabua Vagi-Morea, Simon Atai, Jason Kila, Chad Soper, Jack Gardner.
The squad looks impressive. Though we can’t expect the team makes an upset at the global level. It might be too much to expect them to qualify for the Super 12s of the coming T20 World Cup 2021.
PNG will start its campaign against the co-hosts Oman on 17th October. 17th October is the starting date of the tournament as well. So, on the first of the coming T20 World Cup, we will have Assad Vala and his crew in action for the first time.

Oman will is placed in Group B of the qualifying stage. PNG will keep an eye on the 2nd spot of the group to get to the next round. They will take on Oman in the first encounter on 17th October, Scotland on 19th October, and Bangladesh on 21st October. All the matches of PNG will be played in Oman.
