Group B matches have entered into an exciting phase now. Though today is the last day of Group B Matches, both games will be exciting in terms of results. Who will qualify, and who will eliminate? Will Oman still have a chance to go through to the next round? Will Scotland join Bangladesh, or will Bangladesh be surprised with another defeat. Here in this article are the possible chances for all the four teams in the group. Interestingly no team has mathematically eliminated from the T20 World Cup 2021 race. So, the till minute no one can that which will boss the group.
First, we will talk about the co-hosts Oman. Oman started the tournament on a high, beating PNG in the first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. It was a comprehensive ten wickets victory over Papua New Guinea. Oman took on Bangladesh on the 19th of October. They lost the match, which reduced their run-rate advantage, which was +3.605 after the first match. After losing the game, it reduces to +0.613, which is still better than Scotland. So, if Oman beats Scotland without any inducive condition, it will be enough for Oman to qualify for the Super 12s round. But no result match will benefit Scotland as it is already leading the group.
On the other hand, Scotland needs just a win, no matter if it is a one-run margin. No result match will also be enough for them. So, no result match will be an end for the host Oman.
Will after a “No Result Match ” Oman can still qualify for the second round?
Yes, there will still be a chance for Oman to qualify for the Super 12 round if Bangladesh loses the match against PNG with a big margin and Oman lose the match with a narrow margin; in that case, Oman can still qualify for the Super 12 round of the T20 World Cup 2021.
If Bangladesh and Oman win today’s matches, there will be an interesting scenario for all three teams. If Oman wins, they will qualify. And qualification of Bangladesh and Scotland will come down to net run-rate.
Let us look at the run rate of Bangladesh and Scotland as it will be the main factor for the qualification of both teams for the next round.
Bangladesh Net Run-Rate
Bangladesh net run-rate after two matches.
Matches 2
Points 2
Run-Rate 0.500
Scotland’s net run rate after two matches.
Matches 2
Points 4
Run-Rate 0.575
If Bangladesh, it means that Scotland and Bangladesh will be equal on point. Scotland’s loss will decrease their run rate, and Bangladesh’s win will increase their run rate. In that case, Bangladesh will qualify, and Scotland will eliminate from the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. So, the next two matches will be very crucial for both teams.
PNG can qualify if they beat Bangladesh by a big margin and Oman loses the match considerably.
