Afghanistan has surprised everyone after directly qualifying for the Super 12 Round. Teams like Sri Lanka and Bangla Desh were supposed to qualify but Afghanistan left both the high profile teams behind and cemented its place in the top 8 teams.

Afghanistan makes its debut against Ireland at P. Sara, Colombo; 1 February 2010. The since then there has been no retreat for the team. They are still making it count.
Afghanistan Cricket was formed in 1995, just 26 years ago. And ICC took it as an Affiliate member in 2001. Asian Cricket Council provided them with membership in 2003. Afghanistan is now a full member of the ICC. They got this achievement in 2017.
