Sohaib Maqsood, middle-order team Pakistan has been ruled out due to a back injury. Explosive all-rounder Shoaib Malik has been named as his replacement by Pakistan Cricket Board.
PCB has brought Shoaib Malik in place of the injured Sohaib Maqsood. Another significant change is the PCB selectors bringing back experienced Shoaib Malik for Sohaib Maqsood, a part of the ICC T20 World Cup Pakistan squad.
Shoaib Malik was not part of the initial T20 World Cup Pakistan Squad, and he was not even part of the Squad till yesterday when the PCB included Fakhar Zaman, Sarfraz Ahmad, and Haider Ali. He became a part of the Squad due to Sohaib Maqsood Injury.
This is a good change because the Pakistan team needs experience as well for such a big stage. The previous team lacked experience and had too many talented but inexperienced players may not work in favor of the team.
PCB has also confirmed that Sohaib Maqsood has been ruled out of the tournament and Shoaib Malik replaces him.
The Chief selector PCB Muhammad Wassem said, “”Sohaib is devastated to miss out on the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as he had worked hard for this event and was in sparkling form. We feel for him but injuries are part and parcel of the sport. I am sure after undergoing rehabilitation, he’ll fully recover to be available for future assignments.”
“In his place and following discussions with the team management, we have decided to include Shoaib Malik in the side. I am sure Shoaib’s experience will be handy for the entire Squad.”
PCB, Pakistan team and fans hope the new combination will work in a better way. Now, the Pakistani Squad for the T20 World Cup 2021 contains young talented players and has some experienced players.
Pakistan will start it warm-up matches campaign on 18th against West Indies and the Super 12s campaign of the team will be started on 24th October against its Arch-rival India.
